My involvement with digital design began as a hobby. Unrelated
to my studies, I would take any opportunity to come up with a digital project
and would design a variety of things for my friends and myself. I started
watching work produced by famous digital designers and soon started spotting
the contribution of designers in rather common places – e.g., recognizing the
pros and cons of store signs from the perspective of their advertising
potential. Through these discoveries, I began to imagine the implementation of
my ideas in the real world: in the domain of fashion, in printed materials like
badges and booklets, and in design for social media and videos on YouTube. My
newfound admiration for human creativity, as well as designers’ ability to make
things more convenient and efficient, gave me an incentive to improve my design
skills.
Since my interest in the field has grown, I’ve taken on and
completed a number of freelance projects, and I’ve also become employed as a
full-time designer at a company that holds esports events. As I keep learning,
I continue to look for ways to improve my professional skills: I work in a club
at our University, where my job is to create graphics content for our social
media accounts. I’ve also worked as a designer for events on behalf of the
University itself. I’ve been very happy to see my work prove successful in
helping these projects and events reach their full potential.
I’d like to devote my life to the field of digital design, the
most interesting thing for me being packaging design. While working on such
projects, one has to be able to adhere to a certain unique style, while also
taking into account the company’s requirements.
Design is a great way to make life easier for people around
the world. When you are standing at a bus stop and looking at the traffic
display, it is the work of a graphic designer that helps you quickly find your
way home. When someone is trying to choose the best dishwashing detergent in
the store, they want to understand, as soon as possible, exactly how many plates
they’ll be able to wash. This is exactly the kind of thing that will make me
satisfied with my work, and this is why I’d like to pursue two main directions
in my studies: digital design and computer programming.
